Island of the Moon Seen from the Island of the Sun

Island of the Moon Seen from the Island of the Sun

A bright, full moon rises high over the Cordillera Real, illuminating the blue waters of Lake Titicaca and the mysterious Island of the Moon. This photo was taken from high atop the Island of the Sun in the middle of Lake Titicaca, the world's highest navigable lake and the largest lake in South America. Lake Titicaca has a rich cultural history as it is the ancestral home of the Tiwanaku, Inca and perhaps even Atlantis.
