This image of the Kilauea Lighthouse at Kilauea Point on Kauai was especially challenging as it was taken at 8:45 pm during an electrical storm. Three flashes of sheet lightning over 25 seconds provided just enough light to enable a perfect 25 second, single exposure. Visible-- just behind the newly refurbished 100 year old lighthouse-- is the beacon from the point's light tower. In photo, it shines from left to right through the deep blue night sky.
