I saw a tall form cross the road about 200 yards ahead. It was too skinny to be a bear and too elegant to be a coyote. I thought maybe a lynx. I slowly pulled the car to a stop near to where I thought the animal crossed and looked in the bush and saw him. I took a few quick photos and realized that I needed to go deeper into the tree line if I wanted a better photograph of this amazing animal. So I went back to the car; put on my boots; grabbed the bear spray and quietly resumed the hunt. This lynx sat with me for about 5 minutes before yawning and then slowly walking away. It was one of the most special moments of the entire trip.
