Salt Blind

Salt Blind

The brightness of the Salar de Uyuni is blinding. The thin air of altitude does little to block the strong Andean sunlight. The dried salt beds reflect all of the light and the total effect is quite startling on the senses. Most of your photography will be done by 7:30 or 8 am, leaving the morning to late afternoon to rest or travel to the next destination. Definitely take sunscreen, sunglasses, long sleeve shirts and hat. Drink lots of water and if you find the shade of a tree, be grateful for the gift because once you hit the Salar vegetation taller than you is hard to come by.
